The Hiring Village is back for 2018! We have 10 companies who have graciously sponsored the con and are looking to hire. Bring a resume, come with questions and learn about opportunities at a variety of companies all in a central location.

Career Opportunities

Hiring Village offers an opportunity for BSidesCharm attendees to talk with companies about career opportunities. We have a fine assortment of small/medium/large companies from our local area that offer a mix of career opportunities. Come talk to our participating companies in a low-pressure environment and learn about what they have to offer.

Resume Review/Career Advice

Have career questions? Don’t know how to break into the speciality area of your interest? Not sure what options might be a fit for you? Stop by! We will have volunteer mentors - subject matter experts in the domain that can help with career questions.

How dusty is your resume? Does it really reflect your skills, abilities and talents? What does it look like to someone reviewing you for a job? Everyone should have an up-to-date resume. Stop by and meet with volunteer resume reviewers to fine tune your resumes. You don’t have to be job hunting to update your resume. Don’t wait until you need it!

Resume Reviewers

Below are the volunteers we have in 2018 who have kindly volunteered their time to offer advice and look at your resumes:

Marcelle Lee - A threat researcher with LookingGlass Cyber Solutions, an adjunct professor in digitalforensics and network security, and she also provides security consulting and training services through her company, Fractal Security Group, LLC. She is involved with many industry organizations, working groups, and boards, including the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu, the NIST Cyber Competitions Working Group, and the ISACA CSX Certification Task Force.

Perry Lynch - An information security practitioner with 20 years experience in the legal, healthcare, and financial industries, and is currently focused on SWIFT compliance and Wire Transfer Security. Perry has earned several industry and vendor certifications, including CISSP and CISA, and spent several years teaching cybersecurity at a local college. Recent activities have focused on shifting the corporate culture within a growing company, developing a successful security management program, and advising executive management on effective security and compliance issues while securing a growing enterprise environment.

John Blessing - Over 13 years experience with extensive training and formal education in numerous types of communication protocols including TCP/IP networking, public telephone networks, fiber networks, and mobile technologies. Proficient with wireshark, snort, bro, kali, pathloss, python, and plenty of random others. BS in Computer Network Security, CISSP.

Dan Hardisty - Over sixteen years of technical experience from mobile cellular to (more recently) network analysis. CCNA and Network+ certified. Experienced hiring manager and staffer for a variety of government services contracts in the Maryland market.

Ryan McGovern - Software Engineer with 10 years experience in at large and small companies in all aspects cyber software from Web UI to embedded development. Experienced in recruiting and interviewing entry to mid level software engineers as well as system administrators. Specialized in L2/L3 networking (Programming and packet analysis), BS in Computer Science, Expired CCNA and CEH.

Erica Hanner - Erica graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in International Business Management. She has spent most of her professional career in IT services and has a passion for Cybersecurity. Erica now works as a Business Development Manager for a specialized IT staffing company where she focuses on hiring Cybersecurity professionals. In her free time she serves as the Vice Chairwoman for Sarah’s Charities Foundation, a non-profit focused on breaking the cycle of homelessness by giving homeless men, women, and veterans a hand UP out of poverty through affordable housing and employment assistance.
